An iRAP roads engineering consultant who has worked on life-saving projects across India has won a prestigious award for innovation.
Jigesh Bhavsar (pictured right with his family) received the ‘Innovation in Design Engineering Award’ from the Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) in the 2016 Annual Awards for Young Engineers. The award recognised the key role he has played in delivering innovative solutions for assessing risk and delivering civil engineering interventions based on the Star Ratings model.
Among the projects Jigesh has worked on are the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety in Mumbai and iRAP assessments of over 7,000km of road network across seven Indian states. He has also worked on the road safety assessment of the Delhi-Panipat National Highway.
Jigesh said: ‘I was greatly honoured to receive this award. It is a matter of pride for me and all of the iRAP family, as the award is recognition for my work as part of the iRAP team in India.'
